Summer camps are closing this Friday but the Youth Achievement in Technology Program will still be going strong!  Registration is now open for the 2011 Summer Youth Achievement in Technology Program. Call 904-683-0143 or email yat@e3businessgroup.us. Session III has begun and we are still accepting young people. All spots have been reduced to $95! Call 904-683-0143 for details. Discount for siblings too!

We have had an amazing start to our program. The curriculum is unique and the participants have spent a week of discovering and interaction with a wide variety of people being exposed to many types of careers. Check out the schedule!

E3 Champion & Attorney Kevin M. Cobbin, Esq. meets E3 YAT Intern Michael Glover (Jacksonville Job Corps) at "This is What I Do Thursday"

The YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT IN TECHNOLOGY program is a community oriented initiative of E3 which targets youth between the ages of 11 - 16; providing a unique opportunity to discover jobs and careers which match their personalities and aptitude. Traditional careers offered to youth (doctor, lawyer, teacher, preacher) and many blue collar positions are presented as the only option and rarely are suggested because of an observed aptitude. The YAT program specifically seeks to motivate young people to share their likes and gives activities and projects which help identify aptitudes and areas of interest. We then have educators, professionals, and entrepreneurs which help expose the campers to possible career fields and jobs which benefit from these skills.

Participants learn the basics of boxing from Coach Majiid Yaseen during "Health & Wealth Wednesday"

Technology is used to virtually explore the careers and help educate and encourage the youth on income potential, benefits and options for developing their natural skills.

YAT provides a wealth of additional opportunities. Located within the DEEN Wellness Center the youth will have opportunities to experience exercise demos, learn about healthy nutrition and even explore different types of physical fitness like boxing. Special visits by entrepreneurs and local athletes will provide inspiration around academic achievement and motivation to succeed. Partner organizations like the Duval County Health Department will deliver education and outreach around HIV/STD/AIDS prevention. E3 entrepreneurs will provide workshops on bullying, sexting, and responsible social networking. Round this out with free before and after care, movies and games and this is a camp unlike any other in NE Florida.

E3 is uniquely qualified, as a collective of community focused entrepreneurs, to make a difference in the lives of our youth. We are putting into action what others speak about. Florida Statutes Chapter 402.56 in establishing the Children's Cabinet states:

"The Legislature finds that all state agencies and programs that touch the lives of children and youth must work in a coordinated and comprehensive fashion, with an emphasis on providing a continuum of services that benefit children from prenatal care through programs supporting successful transition to self-sufficient adulthood."

We believe this program is aligned to the vision of the Children's Cabinet and believe it can become a successful education and intervention tool for Duval County youth.
